Project Contract
The purpose of this contract is to clarify and communicate the expectations and responsibilites of the student team and their client organization. To this end, both parties should agree upon the following items:
Project scope. The scope of the project should be kept as small
and tightly controlled as possible. For example, the ideal project would consist of 5-10
total pages and allow for a some creativity and interactivity (estimated time per student
~ 50 total hours).
Project objective. The project could be used as a either a
"subsite" for an existing site or as a "prototype" for an entirely new
Web site. The design should include advanced Web functionality; e.g., image maps,
multimedia, interactive forms, search engines, and Java applets.
Availability. Both the primary contact at the client organization
and the members of the student team should agree to meet on a frequent basis (e.g.,
weekly) for a specified period of time (e.g., at least until December 7th).
Hosting of Web site. The location where the Web site files will
reside following the completion of the project needs to be decided no later that October
9th (e.g., a server at the client organization, or an Internet Service Provider).
Maintenance. The on-going maintenance and enhancement of the Web
application will not be the responsibility of either the students or any representatives
of the University of Virginia. However, it will be the responsibility of the student teams
to specify who will maintain the Web application within the project proposal.
